Full Mouth
Reconstruction
What precisely is full-mouth reconstruction?
Whole-mouth reconstruction may improve the health, function, and appearance of your gums, teeth, and jawbone for better biting, speaking, and a more attractive grin. At Evolution Dentistry, full-mouth restoration may include (but is not limited to) onlays, inlays, bridges, crowns, veneers, implants, and dentures. Certain full-mouth reconstruction procedures may necessitate a bone or gum graft as well. At our Houston, TX office, Drs. Mohamad El-Kheir provides full-mouth restoration, which can help to rejuvenate both your oral health and the appearance of your smile. Before developing your customized full-mouth restoration treatment plan, we will listen to your concerns and desires.
What Are the Advantages of Total Mouth Reconstruction?
Full-mouth reconstruction can help you improve your oral health while also improving the appearance of your teeth and smile. Treatment also assists in the restoration of normal functions such as chewing and speaking. Evolution Dentistry prioritizes patient comfort and convenience to ensure that you receive the most up-to-date procedures with the least amount of disruption to your life. Additional advantages of working with our team include:
- Improved oral health: Restore your teeth to optimal health and avoid future dental issues such as damage or decay.
- We use high-quality materials to create restorations that look and feel like your natural teeth.
- Long-term results: With proper aftercare, including regular checkups, our treatments are designed to last for many years.
- Pain relief: Many patients who undergo full-mouth reconstruction report feeling more at ease after treatment.
Is full-mouth reconstruction right for me?
If you’ve lost a few teeth or have several teeth with large fillings that need to be replaced, you may require full mouth reconstruction. You may also have teeth that are cracked, broken, or severely worn down as a result of bruxism (chronic teeth grinding). You may have dental conditions or a genetic disorder that necessitate extensive treatment, such as ectodermal dysplasia (teeth absent since birth), amelogenesis imperfecta (abnormally small teeth), or dentinogenesis imperfecta (stained or translucent teeth). You may want to replace old crowns or simply improve your mouth for better comfort or health. In more severe cases, your deteriorated gums and teeth may have resulted in sunken cheeks or another visible facial deformity. The entire mouth may be reconstructed.
What is the procedure for full-mouth reconstruction?
Following a thorough examination of your gums, teeth, and jaw, one of our experienced dentists may recommend full-mouth reconstruction. Your individual treatment plan will be developed based on the condition of your teeth, gum tissue, temporomandibular (TMJ) joints, jaw muscles, and dental bite. During your consultation, we will discuss your treatment and sedation options, as well as our own recommendations, to ensure that your treatment plan meets your needs and goals. We will go over what to expect during your full-mouth reconstruction and schedule your procedures as soon as your treatment plan is finalized. In most cases, a full-mouth reconstruction will necessitate several visits to Evolution Dentistry. Our team will schedule your procedures with enough time in between to allow you to recover before moving on to the next step.
How long does it take to recover from a full-mouth reconstruction?
We will explain what to expect and how to care for your mouth after each treatment in your full-mouth reconstruction treatment program. Our dentists can prescribe antibiotics or pain medication, which must be filled and taken as directed prior to your procedure. You may experience some discomfort or swelling after certain procedures, such as implant placement, which may make eating difficult, so a liquid or soft food diet may be best for you. After your full-mouth reconstruction is completed, you must maintain your oral health at home by flossing and brushing. Annual dental exams and twice-yearly cleanings at Evolution Dentistry are also beneficial. We can monitor the health of your restorations, natural teeth, gums, and jawbone during your exams.
